Search engines cap how much of a page they will quote. The default cap is roughly 160 characters, which is a sentence. RankReady’s AI Snippet setting lifts that cap so an AI engine may quote the whole passage instead of a fragment.
What it actually writes
With the setting on, RankReady injects this into the page head:
<meta name="robots" content="max-snippet:-1, max-image-preview:large, max-video-preview:-1">
max-snippet:-1 means “no limit”. max-image-preview:large allows a full-size image preview rather than a thumbnail. max-video-preview:-1 sets no limit on video previews. Posts marked noindex are skipped.
Why you would want this
An AI answer that quotes one clipped sentence from your page is less likely to be useful, and less likely to carry your point across intact. Lifting the cap lets the engine take the passage that actually answers the question.
The trade-off is real and worth stating: a longer quote means a reader may get their answer without clicking through. If a page exists to sell rather than to inform, you may prefer the cap.
Where to find it
RankReady, AI Visibility, Robots.txt, in the AI Snippet card. The switch is Allow full snippet (max-snippet:-1), option rnrd_max_snippet_default, and it is on by default. Each post can override it in the RankReady: AI Visibility box on the edit screen, with three choices: Use default, Allow full snippet, Standard snippet only.
What it does not do
It does not force any engine to quote you. It removes a limit; it does not create an obligation. Engines still decide what to show.
