Slim SEO’s promise is that there is nothing to configure, and it keeps that promise better than anything else in the category. RankReady is a WordPress AI SEO plugin that runs alongside it and handles a surface Slim SEO does not touch. Setup takes about five minutes. The honest part of this page is a section headed Slim SEO has never been measured, and it is worth reading before installing anything.

Where Slim SEO is the better tool, and RankReady is the wrong answer
Slim SEO’s entire pitch is that a site owner should never have to learn what a canonical tag is, and for a very large number of WordPress sites that is the correct answer rather than a compromise. RankReady has an onboarding wizard, a crawler table with 29 rows, and an admin with more switches in it than Slim SEO’s whole settings screen.
There is also a real activation trap worth knowing before installing. On a fresh RankReady install the three main output features start switched off, and the default post-type selection covers posts only, with pages excluded. Until those change, nothing appears. The onboarding wizard walks through it, but anyone who skips the wizard expecting install-and-forget behaviour will find nothing happening and reasonably conclude the plugin is broken. It is idle, waiting for those switches. If the goal is a site that needs no attention, stay on Slim SEO alone.
Slim SEO has never
been measured.
The September 2026 matrix on WordPress 7.1 covered Yoast, Rank Math, All in One SEO and SEOPress. The July 2026 matrix additionally covered The SEO Framework. Slim SEO was in neither. Claiming a delta of zero here would be inventing a result, so this page does not claim one.
What the code does guarantee
RNRD_Schema::has_active_seo_plugin() returns true when SLIM_SEO_VER is defined, so RankReady’s own standalone Article writer never runs while Slim SEO is active. RankReady hooks Slim SEO’s slim_seo_schema_graph filter and adds its AI-specific properties to the Article node inside the graph Slim SEO built, rather than emitting a second node. It emits no rel="canonical" link in the HTML head at all, under any SEO plugin. And its robots.txt output is fenced between # BEGIN RankReady and # END RankReady markers appended after everything else, so it cannot overwrite an existing rule.
A code path is weaker evidence than a measurement
It is the same code path that measured a delta of zero against the four plugins that were tested. The honest description is: expected to be clean, verified in code, awaiting verification on a running site.
The two-minute check anyone can run
Rich Results Test on a post before activating RankReady and again afterwards. If the JSON-LD block count is the same and the canonical count is one, the merge worked. A report either way is genuinely useful, because it is the thing this page cannot yet assert.
What happens if you
remove RankReady.
Adding a second plugin to an install-and-forget site is a reversible decision, and this is exactly how reversible it is.
On deactivation
The # BEGIN RankReady block is stripped out of robots.txt. Scheduled events are unscheduled and the llms.txt caches are cleared. The .md URLs, the llms.txt files and the MCP manifest stop responding. Slim SEO carries on untouched, because the only thing RankReady did to it was attach a filter that is no longer attached.
On delete
Everything is preserved by default. The uninstall routine reads one option and exits immediately unless the site owner ticked Delete all data on uninstall. Tick it and RankReady removes its own options, its _rnrd_* post meta, its transients and its crawler log table, and it deletes the Cloudflare cache rule it created before it wipes the token needed to delete it.
Never at risk either way
Titles, meta descriptions, canonicals, sitemaps and Open Graph tags. RankReady never wrote any of it, so it has nothing to take back.

Q. Should Slim SEO be swapped for RankReady?
No. RankReady writes no titles, no meta descriptions and no sitemap, so on its own it would leave a site worse off than Slim SEO alone.
Q. Has the coexistence actually been tested?
Not against Slim SEO specifically. The merge filter and the detection are in the shipping code, and the same code path measured a delta of zero against four other SEO plugins, but a Slim SEO matrix has not been run. Verify with Rich Results Test before and after.
Q. Why does nothing happen right after installing?
The main output features start switched off and the default post-type selection is posts only. The onboarding wizard turns them on. Skipping it leaves the plugin idle.
Q. Will running both slow the site down?
RankReady loads no front-end JavaScript framework. Its only front-end stylesheet is enqueued on pages that actually render a summary, an FAQ or an author box, and on no other page. The front end stays as it was.
Q. Does anything get sent anywhere?
Only to the AI provider whose key the site owner enters, and only when they click Generate. Those keys are encrypted at rest. Nothing reaches RankReady’s own servers unless the admin ticks the tips-email box. No analytics beacon, and no background call on a page view.
Q. How long does setup take?
